Vesna D. Garovic, M.D., Ph.D., is a board-certified nephrologist who has a long-standing interest in high-risk pregnancies studying the pathophysiology of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, including preeclampsia. She is a Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and has a joint appointment in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Garovic serves as the Penske Foundation Professor of Clinical Medicine in Honor of Ian D. Hay, M.D., Ph.D. and J. Eileen Hay, M.B., Ch.B.

She attended medical school at the University of Belgrade, Belgrade, Serbia and completed her internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

Her clinical practice focuses on hypertension with a special emphasis on pregnancy-related hypertension and kidney disease. Her clinical and research work is focused on improving maternal and fetal outcomes as well as their long-term health outcomes.
