Video: How much time for physical therapy?

By Mayo Clinic staff

Transcript

Edward Laskowski, M.D., Mayo Clinic specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation

One of the things that people tell us they're most surprised about after the surgery is the amount of time they need to devote to their physical therapy program. We don't require people to do four hours a day of exercise, but they will have to be consistent with their exercises, which may require about 30 minutes to one hour. Initially these will be supervised by the physical therapist, and later they can do exercises on their own.
