I'm so grateful for the thoughtful comments readers of this blog have shared. In particular, I appreciate the comment that that a higher power, however you define that, can be a fulcrum for resiliency — the bounce back factor that energizes people to overcome dreadful issues.

Need more help?

If the stress in your life is more than you can cope with, get help right away.

  • National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
    1-800-273-TALK (8255)
  • Go to the nearest hospital or emergency room
  • Call your physician, health provider or clergy
  • National Alliance on Mental Illness

    1-800-950-NAMI (6264)

However, it's important to recognize that not everyone derives strength from a faith connection. Furthermore, some individuals isolate themselves with their suffering.

If you're struggling, it can be hard to reach out for assistance. But it's also hard to try to gut it out on your own. There's no easy solution, of course, but a compassionate professional may be able to help you bounce back and find some peace.

I am losing faith in medical practice in one area. My knee effusion goes away when I take antibiotics. My Orthpedist isn't impressed, and my infectious disease Dr denies its related. Nonetheless, 2 courses of Zpacks for respiratory infection left my joint in great shape. Is this beyond their scope or between it? There is no place to go to take it further, I feel helpless, despite having found some relief.

Thanx so much for the advice. Very compressive. I agree that religion is not for everyone.

This is a great blog! I read the article "Stress" written by World of Health and found that having a negative outlook on things in your life has a great affect on how much stress you deal with. I am one that does not deal with stress that well, thank you for being so helpful with your blogs!
