Sheryl M. Ness
Sheryl Ness, R.N., O.C.N., is a nurse educator for the Cancer Education Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. She helps inform patients, families and caregivers about services and resources to help them through the cancer journey.
She has a master's degree in nursing from Augsburg College. In addition, she is an assistant professor of oncology at the College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, and is certified as a specialist in oncology nursing. Sheryl has worked for more than 20 years at Mayo Clinic as an educator. She has a keen interest in the importance of the quality of life and concerns of people living with cancer.

Events to raise awareness of melanoma

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. is planning two great events in May dedicated to education and raising awareness of melanoma — a deadly form of skin cancer.
On Friday, May 17, join us for a run/walk beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 5455 50th Avenue NW in Rochester. This is the eighth year of the event with money raised donated for research and education on melanoma at the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center.

On Saturday, May 18, the Mayo Clinic Cancer Education Program and Stay Out of the Sun Foundation in collaboration with the Melanoma Research Foundation will offer a patient and family education program focused on melanoma.
The program will be held in Geffen Auditorium in the Gonda Building on the Mayo Clinic campus in Rochester. The event will be 8:15 a.m.-3:45 p.m. Join us to learn more about the latest research and treatment updates for patients with melanoma.
Topics include:
- Individualized care — genomics in cancer treatment
- Cutting edge treatment updates
- Research updates
- Wellness and prevention strategies for melanoma
