Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Dizziness
  2. fainting
  3. fast or irregular heartbeat

Less common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. blurred vision
  4. body aches or pain
  5. chills
  6. cough
  7. dark-colored urine
  8. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  9. difficulty with breathing
  10. difficulty with moving
  11. dry mouth
  12. ear congestion
  13. fever
  14. flushed, dry skin
  15. frequent urge to urinate
  16. fruit-like breath odor
  17. headache
  18. increased hunger
  19. increased thirst
  20. increased urination
  21. joint pain
  22. loss of consciousness
  23. lower back or side pain
  24. muscle cramps, spasms, stiffness, pain, tenderness, wasting, or weakness
  25. nausea
  26. runny or stuffy nose
  27. sneezing
  28. sore throat
  29. stomachache
  30. sweating
  31. swelling
  32. swollen joints
  33. trouble breathing
  34. unexplained weight loss
  35. unusual tiredness or weakness
  36. vomiting

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. bloating
  3. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  4. chest tightness
  5. constipation
  6. diarrhea
  7. difficulty with chewing, swallowing, or talking
  8. double vision
  9. drooping eyelids
  10. general tiredness and weakness
  11. indigestion
  12. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  13. light-colored stools
  14. loss of appetite
  15. muscle pain or weakness
  16. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  17. pale skin
  18. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  19. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  20. red, irritated eyes
  21. skin rash, hives, or itching
  22. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  23. unusual bleeding or bruising
  24. upper right abdominal or stomach pain
  25. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet
  26. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  4. dizziness or lightheadedness
  5. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  6. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  7. full feeling
  8. heartburn
  9. lack or loss of strength
  10. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  11. passing gas
  12. sensation of spinning
  13. skin rash, encrusted, scaly, and oozing
  14. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  15. tenderness in the stomach area
  16. trouble sleeping

Incidence not known

  1. Being forgetful
  2. depression
  3. discoloration of the skin
  4. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  5. inability to have or keep an erection
  6. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
