Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of the skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the site
  2. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, ankles, or feet
  3. blurred vision
  4. decreased urine
  5. dizziness
  6. dry mouth
  7. headache
  8. increased thirst
  9. irregular heartbeat
  10. loss of appetite
  11. mood changes
  12. muscle pain or cramps
  13. nausea or vomiting
  14. nervousness
  15. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  16. pounding in the ears
  17. rapid weight gain
  18. seizures
  19. slow or fast heartbeat
  20. tingling of hands or feet
  21. unusual tiredness or weakness
  22. unusual weight gain or loss

Less common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. bladder pain
  3. bloody or cloudy urine
  4. bluish color
  5. change in consciousness
  6. changes in skin color
  7. chest pain
  8. cold sweats
  9. confusion
  10. cool pale skin
  11. cough
  12. decreased urination
  13. depression
  14. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  15. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  16. drowsiness
  17. fainting
  18. fear
  19. fever or chills
  20. flushed, dry skin
  21. frequent urge to urinate
  22. fruit-like breath odor
  23. increase in amount of urine
  24. increase in heart rate
  25. increased hunger
  26. increased urination
  27. loss of consciousness
  28. lower back or side pain
  29. mental changes
  30. muscle spasms [tetany] or twitching
  31. nightmares
  32. pale skin
  33. problems in urination
  34. rapid breathing
  35. shakiness
  36. slurred speech
  37. sneezing
  38. sore mouth or tongue
  39. sore throat
  40. sunken eyes
  41. sweating
  42. swelling of the foot or leg
  43. tenderness
  44. thirst
  45. tightness in the chest
  46. trembling
  47. trouble sleeping
  48. troubled breathing with exertion
  49. unusual bleeding or bruising
  50. white patches in the mouth or on the tongue
  51. wrinkled skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Diarrhea

Less common

  1. Difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  2. redness of the skin
  3. unusually warm skin

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
