Blueberries: A breakfast best bet

By Mayo Clinic staff

Why eat blueberries? Blueberries are a flavorful low-calorie source of fiber and vitamin C. In fact, 1 cup of fresh blueberries has just 84 calories, yet 3.6 grams of fiber and 14 milligrams of vitamin C. Blueberries are also a rich source of plant compounds (phytonutrients) that may help prevent urinary tract infections. There's even evidence that blueberries may improve short-term memory. So skip the sugar and add a handful of blueberries to your breakfast cereal. You'll enjoy the flavor and the added health benefits.
