Sunless tanning? How to get good results

By Mayo Clinic staff

Want to avoid orange palms, knees and elbows when you're using sunless tanning products? Scrub your skin before you apply the sunless tanning product. Use a wash cloth or a sponge to remove excess dead skin cells. Use less sunless tanner on dry or thickened skin, such as the skin over your ankles, knees and elbows. When you're done, wash your hands and clean under your fingernails. Then use a cotton ball to apply sunless tanner to the top of each hand.
