Cordocentesis

Cordocentesis, also known as percutaneous umbilical blood sampling, is a highly specialized prenatal test. During cordocentesis, an ultrasound transducer is used to show the baby's position on a monitor — then a fetal blood sample is withdrawn from the umbilical cord for testing.
