Your skin has three layers: the epidermis, the dermis and a layer of subcutaneous tissue, which is mainly fat. Within these layers are millions of cells, nerve endings, capillaries, oil glands, hair follicles and sweat glands. All can be destroyed by a spreading bedsore infection.
