Photo of ParaGard

ParaGard is an intrauterine device (IUD) that's inserted into the uterus for long-term contraception. ParaGard prevents sperm from entering the fallopian tubes. If fertilization occurs, ParaGard keeps the fertilized egg from implanting in the lining of the uterus.
