Patient Care

International database developed for patients with Niemann-Pick disease type C
Mayo is one of the few centers in the world with experience diagnosing and treating patients with NPC and has one of the few labs capable of performing the biochemical analysis of skin biopsy required for a definitive diagnosis.

Research

Mayo supports neuroregeneration as a strategic investment in the future of health care
The Center for Regenerative Medicine Neuroregeneration Program encompasses the discovery, development and delivery of next-generation patient care. Scientists, engineers and other specialists take a multidisciplinary, team-based approach to neuroregeneration for a number of devastating neurological conditions.

Researchers synthesize compounds to kill pediatric brain tumor cells
Rather than screening millions of compounds, Mayo researchers use a rational design process aimed at a specific target to design drugs that inhibit the signaling pathway for STAT3, a key signaling molecule in several cancers.
