Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

1. Cough
2. fever
3. skin rash
4. sneezing
5. sore throat
6. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs

Less common or rare

1. Abnormal growth in the breast
2. arm, back, or jaw pain
3. bloody or black, tarry stools
4. blurred vision
5. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
6. burning or stinging of the skin
7. burning, tingling, numbness, or pain in the hands, arms, feet, or legs
8. chest pain, discomfort, tightness, or heaviness
9. chills
10. confusion
11. cramps
12. diarrhea
13. dry mouth
14. earache
15. fast or irregular heartbeat
16. heartburn
17. heavy bleeding
18. heavy non-menstrual vaginal bleeding
19. high blood pressure
20. increased hunger
21. increased thirst
22. increased urination
23. loss of appetite
24. loss of consciousness
25. muscle aches and pains
26. nausea
27. nerve pain
28. painful blisters on the trunk of body
29. painful cold sores or blisters on the lips, nose, eyes, or genitals
30. pale skin
31. redness or swelling in the ear
32. sensation of pins and needles
33. soreness or redness around the fingernails and toenails
34. stabbing pain
35. stiff neck
36. stomachache
37. stomach pain (severe)
38. sweating
39. tenderness in the stomach area
40. trouble breathing
41. unexplained weight loss
42. unusual bleeding or bruising
43. unusual tiredness or weakness
44. unusual weight gain
45. vomiting
46. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
47. weakness

Incidence not known

1. Area rash
2. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
3. changes in skin color
4. clay-colored stools
5. dilated neck veins
6. itching
7. joint or muscle pain
8. light-colored stools
9. pale or a bluish color skin of the fingers or toes
10. red irritated eyes
11. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
12. seizures
13. slurred speech
14. sores, welting, or blisters
15. sudden and severe inability to speak
16. ulcers or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
17. unpleasant breath odor
18. weakness in the arm or leg on one side of the body
19. yellow eyes and skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

1. Continuing thirst
2. dizziness
3. drowsiness
4. headache, severe or continuing
5. sudden decrease in the amount of urine
6. trouble breathing
7. weight gain

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

1. Back pain
2. change in sense of taste
3. gas
4. headache
5. heartburn
6. inability to sleep
7. loss of taste
8. pain or burning in the throat
9. stuffy or runny nose

Less common

1. Anxiety
2. bleeding after defecation
3. bloody or cloudy urine
4. breast pain
5. bone deformity
6. buzzing or ringing noise in the ears
7. constipation
8. decrease in height
9. decreased appetite
10. depression
11. difficult, burning, or painful urination
12. difficulty with moving or walking
13. difficulty with swallowing
14. excessive muscle tone, muscle tension, or tightness
15. excessive tearing
16. feeling of pressure
17. hair loss
18. hives
19. hoarseness
20. increased sweating
21. infection
22. inflammation
23. itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at site
24. itching of the vagina or genital area
25. joint or muscle pain or stiffness
26. large, flat, blue, or purplish patches in the skin
27. loss of energy or weakness
28. loss of hearing
29. muscle pain increased
30. muscle stiffness
31. nervousness
32. numbness or tingling in the fingers or toes
33. pain during sexual intercourse
34. pain in the back, ribs, arms, or legs
35. pounding heartbeat
36. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
37. redness or swelling in the arms or legs
38. sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
39. severe sunburn
40. sleepiness
41. straining while passing stool
42. sudden sweating and feelings of warmth
43. swelling
44. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
45. tenderness
46. thick, white vaginal discharge with no odor or with a mild odor
47. thinning of the hair
48. trouble with swallowing
49. uncomfortable swelling around anus
50. unexplained weight loss
51. voice changes
52. warmth on the skin
53. weakness or heaviness of the legs

Incidence not known

1. Bleeding gums
2. bloating
3. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
4. loss of sense of smell
5. pain
6. pinpoint red spots on the skin
7. shakiness and unsteady walk
8. stomach cramps
9. swelling of the neck
10. tenderness
11. trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination
12. unsteadiness
13. watery or bloody diarrhea
