Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bladder pain
  3. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  4. bloody nose
  5. bloody or cloudy urine
  6. blurred vision
  7. burning, numbness, tingling, or painful sensations
  8. burning, painful, or difficult urination
  9. changes in patterns and rhythms of speech
  10. chest pain
  11. chills
  12. coma
  13. confusion
  14. cough or hoarseness
  15. decreased urine output
  16. dizziness
  17. drowsiness
  18. dry mouth
  19. fever
  20. flushed, dry skin
  21. frequent urge to urinate
  22. fruit-like breath odor
  23. headache
  24. increased hunger
  25. increased thirst
  26. increased urination
  27. loss of appetite
  28. lower back or side pain
  29. mood or mental changes
  30. muscle pain, cramps, spams, or twitching seizures
  31. nausea
  32. nervousness
  33. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  34. pain in the rectum
  35. pale skin
  36. pelvic pain
  37. pounding in the ears
  38. rapid weight gain
  39. slow or fast heartbeat
  40. slurred speech
  41. sore throat
  42. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  43. stomach pain
  44. sweating
  45. swelling of the face, ankles, hands, feet, or lower legs
  46. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  47. swollen glands
  48. tingling of the hands or feet
  49. trembling
  50. trouble breathing
  51. trouble in speaking
  52. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  53. unusual bleeding or bruising
  54. unusual tiredness or weakness
  55. unusual weight gain or loss
  56. vomiting
  57. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet

Less common

  1. Fainting

Incidence not known

  1. Bloody mucus or unexplained nosebleeds
  2. constipation
  3. diarrhea
  4. heartburn
  5. heavy jaw feeling
  6. indigestion
  7. loosening of a tooth
  8. pain, swelling, or numbness in the mouth or jaw
  9. problems with vision, speech, or walking
  10. stomach cramping or burning
  11. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Back pain
  2. bad, unusual, or unpleasant (after) taste
  3. cracked lips
  4. cracks in the skin
  5. difficulty in moving
  6. joint pain
  7. lack or loss of strength
  8. loss of heat from the body
  9. muscle aches or stiffness
  10. redness, swelling, or pain of the skin
  11. scaling of skin on the hands and feet
  12. swollen joints
  13. tearing of the eyes
  14. tingling of hands and feet
  15. ulceration of the skin
