Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

  1. Agitation
  2. anxiety
  3. bigger, dilated, or enlarged pupils (black part of eye)
  4. black, tarry stools
  5. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  6. bloating of the stomach
  7. bloody or cloudy urine
  8. blurred vision
  9. chest pain, discomfort, or tightness
  10. chills
  11. cold sweats
  12. coma
  13. confusion
  14. confusion as to time, place, or person
  15. constricted, pinpoint, or small pupils (black part of eye)
  16. cool, pale skin
  17. cough or hoarseness
  18. dark urine
  19. darkening of the skin
  20. depression
  21. diarrhea
  22. difficulty in speaking
  23. difficulty swallowing
  24. dizziness
  25. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  26. fainting
  27. fast heartbeat
  28. fever
  29. greatly decreased frequency of urination or amount of urine
  30. hallucinations
  31. headache, sudden or severe
  32. heartburn
  33. hives, itching, skin rash
  34. holding false beliefs that cannot be changed by fact
  35. increased hunger
  36. increased sensitivity of the eyes to light
  37. increased sensitivity to pain
  38. increased thirst
  39. indigestion
  40. irregular or slow heart rate
  41. joint or muscle pain
  42. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  43. light-colored stools
  44. loss of appetite
  45. loss of sense of smell or taste
  46. lower back or side pain
  47. mental depression
  48. muscle pain or cramps
  49. nausea
  50. nervousness
  51. nightmares
  52. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  53. overactive reflexes
  54. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  55. painful or difficult urination
  56. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  57. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  58. poor coordination
  59. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  60. red irritated eyes
  61. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  62. seizures
  63. shakiness
  64. shivering
  65. slurred speech
  66. sore throat
  67. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  68. stiff neck or back
  69. stomach cramps or pain
  70. sweating
  71. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  72. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  73. swollen glands
  74. talking or acting with excitement you cannot control
  75. trouble breathing
  76. twitching
  77. unpleasant breath odor
  78. unusual bleeding or bruising
  79. unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness
  80. unusual or incomplete body or facial movements
  81. unusual tiredness or weakness
  82. vomiting
  83. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  84. weakness or heaviness of the legs
  85. weight gain
  86. worsening of pain
  87. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. dark urine
  3. depression
  4. disorientation
  5. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  6. drowsiness to profound coma
  7. fever
  8. headache
  9. irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  10. lightheadedness
  11. loss of appetite
  12. mood or other mental changes
  13. nausea
  14. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  15. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  16. stomach pain
  17. trouble sleeping
  18. unpleasant breath odor
  19. unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness, or feeling of sluggishness
  20. vomiting of blood
  21. yellow eyes or skin
