Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Accumulation of pus
  2. arm, back, or jaw pain
  3. blurred vision
  4. breathing problems (irregular, noisy, or trouble when resting)
  5. chest pain, discomfort, tightness, or heaviness
  6. chills
  7. confusion
  8. cough producing mucus
  9. decrease in the amount of urine
  10. diarrhea
  11. dilated neck veins
  12. dizziness, fainting, or lightheadedness
  13. dry mouth
  14. fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat
  15. fatigue or tiredness (extreme or unusual)
  16. fever
  17. headache
  18. nausea
  19. pain, tenderness, swelling, or warmth over the injection site
  20. pounding in the ears
  21. rapid breathing
  22. rapid or pounding pulse
  23. skin discoloration at the injection site
  24. stomach pain
  25. sunken eyes
  26. sweating
  27. swelling of the ankles, face, fingers, feet, hands, or lower legs
  28. thirst
  29. trouble with breathing
  30. unconsciousness
  31. vomiting
  32. weight gain
  33. wrinkled skin

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. difficulty with speaking (slow speech or unable to speak)
  3. double vision
  4. seizures
  5. trouble with thinking
  6. trouble with walking
  7. unable to move the arms, legs, or face muscles (including numbness and tingling)

Rare

  1. Fever
  2. hives, itching, skin rash
  3. pale skin
  4. sore throat

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. cough
  3. joint or muscle pain
  4. red, irritated eyes
  5. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  6. sores, ulcers, or white spots in mouth or on the lips

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Constipation
  2. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  3. lack or loss of strength
  4. loss of appetite
  5. muscle aches, pains, or stiffness
  6. runny nose
  7. shivering
  8. sneezing
  9. trouble with sleeping

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
