Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Body aches or pain
  2. chest tightness
  3. chills
  4. cough
  5. dryness or soreness of the throat
  6. ear congestion
  7. fever
  8. headache
  9. loss of voice
  10. muscle aches
  11. pain or tenderness around eyes and cheekbones
  12. sneezing
  13. sore throat
  14. stuffy or runny nose
  15. swollen glands
  16. trouble breathing
  17. trouble in swallowing
  18. unusual tiredness or weakness
  19. voice changes

Less common

  1. Burning or stinging of skin
  2. painful cold sores or blisters on the lips, nose, eyes, or genitals

Incidence not known

  1. Anxiety
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. chest pain
  4. dizziness or lightheadedness
  5. fainting
  6. general feeling of illness
  7. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  8. painful blisters on the trunk of the body
  9. tenderness, pain, swelling, warmth, skin discoloration, and prominent superficial veins over the affected area
  10. weight loss
  11. yellow skin and eyes

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Blemishes on the skin
  2. burning, itching, and pain in the hairy areas, pus at the root of the hair
  3. irritation or soreness of the mouth
  4. pimples
