Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloating
  3. bloody or cloudy urine
  4. blurred vision or changes in vision
  5. confusion
  6. constipation
  7. dark urine
  8. darkening of the skin
  9. depression
  10. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  11. difficulty in moving
  12. dry skin and hair
  13. eye pain, redness
  14. fainting
  15. fast heartbeat
  16. feeling cold
  17. frequent urge to urinate
  18. hair loss
  19. headache
  20. hoarseness or husky voice
  21. indigestion
  22. irritability
  23. loss of appetite
  24. lower back or side pain
  25. muscle cramps and stiffness
  26. nausea
  27. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  28. pale skin
  29. seizures
  30. sensitivity of the eye to light
  31. slow heartbeat
  32. sore tongue
  33. stiff neck
  34. swollen joints
  35. tearing
  36. trouble breathing
  37. unusual bleeding or bruising
  38. unusual tiredness or weakness
  39. vomiting
  40. weight gain
  41. yellow eyes and skin

Less common

  1. Agitation
  2. chest pain or tightness
  3. chills
  4. coma
  5. cough
  6. cough producing mucus
  7. decreased urine output
  8. diarrhea
  9. dizziness
  10. fever
  11. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  12. hostility
  13. lethargy
  14. muscle twitching
  15. nervousness
  16. rapid weight gain
  17. sensitivity to heat
  18. stomach cramps, tenderness, or pain
  19. stupor
  20. sweating
  21. swelling of the face, feet, lower legs, ankles, or hands
  22. thickening of bronchial secretions
  23. trouble sleeping
  24. watery or bloody diarrhea
  25. weight loss

Rare

  1. Anxiety
  2. back or leg pain
  3. black, tarry stools
  4. bleeding gums
  5. blood in the stools
  6. blue or pale skin
  7. blurred vision
  8. burning, tingling, numbness, or pain in the hands, arms, feet, or legs
  9. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  10. change in vision
  11. chest pain, possibly moving to the left arm, neck, or shoulder
  12. drowsiness
  13. dry mouth
  14. eye pain
  15. general body swelling
  16. inability to move the arms and legs
  17. indigestion
  18. joint pain
  19. light-colored stools
  20. lightheadedness
  21. loss of consciousness
  22. loss of strength or energy
  23. muscle aches, pain, tenderness, or weakness
  24. nosebleeds
  25. numbness or tingling in the fingers, face, or feet
  26. partial or slight paralysis
  27. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  28. rapid, shallow breathing
  29. redness of the eye
  30. sensation of pins and needles
  31. sensitivity of the eye to light
  32. severe headache
  33. skin rash, redness, soreness, or itching
  34. sores, welting, or blisters
  35. stabbing pain
  36. stiff neck or back
  37. stomach discomfort or upset
  38. sudden numbness and weakness in the arms and legs
  39. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands in the neck, armpit, or groin
  40. tearing
  41. upper right abdominal or stomach pain

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. cracks in the skin
  3. flushed, dry skin
  4. fruit-like breath odor
  5. increased hunger
  6. increased thirst
  7. increased urination
  8. loss of heat from the body
  9. red irritated eyes
  10. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  11. red, swollen skin
  12. scaly skin
  13. sore throat
  14. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
