Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Agitation
  2. back pain
  3. being forgetful
  4. bladder pain
  5. bleeding gums
  6. bloody or cloudy urine
  7. blurred or double vision
  8. body aches or pain
  9. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  10. chest pain, discomfort, or tightness
  11. coma
  12. confusion
  13. confusion as to time, place, or person
  14. cough
  15. coughing up blood
  16. diarrhea
  17. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  18. dizziness
  19. drowsiness
  20. ear congestion
  21. fainting
  22. fast heartbeat
  23. fever or chills
  24. frequent urge to urinate
  25. hallucinations
  26. headache
  27. holding false beliefs that cannot be changed by fact
  28. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  29. irritability
  30. lightheadedness
  31. loss of taste or smell
  32. loss of voice
  33. lower back or side pain
  34. mental depression or anxiety
  35. mood or mental changes
  36. muscle or bone pain
  37. nightmares or unusually vivid dreams
  38. nosebleeds
  39. paralysis
  40. pounding or rapid pulse
  41. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  42. rapid or irregular heartbeat
  43. red or black, tarry stools
  44. red or dark brown urine
  45. seizures
  46. shakiness and unsteady walk
  47. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  48. sneezing
  49. sore throat
  50. stiff neck
  51. stuffy or runny nose
  52. swelling
  53. trembling and shaking of the hands
  54. trouble breathing
  55. unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination
  56. unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness, or feeling of sluggishness
  57. unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness
  58. vomiting

Less common

  1. Decreased urine output
  2. hostility
  3. muscle twitching
  4. nausea
  5. pale skin
  6. rapid weight gain
  7. stupor
  8. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  9. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  10. unusual bleeding or bruising

Rare

  1. Cool, sweaty skin
  2. inability to move the arms and legs
  3. sudden numbness and weakness in the arms and legs

Incidence not known

  1. Dark urine
  2. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  3. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  4. loss of appetite
  5. stomach pain, severe
  6. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
  2. constipation
  3. dry skin
  4. fall
  5. trouble sleeping
