Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Body aches or pain
  2. chills
  3. cough
  4. difficulty in breathing
  5. ear congestion
  6. fever
  7. headache
  8. loss of voice
  9. sneezing
  10. sore throat
  11. stuffy or runny nose
  12. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Accumulation of pus
  2. chest pain
  3. confusion
  4. cough producing mucus
  5. diarrhea
  6. dizziness
  7. fainting
  8. fast heartbeat
  9. frequent or painful urination
  10. hives or welts, itching, skin rash
  11. hoarseness
  12. increase in bone pain
  13. irritation
  14. itching, pain, redness, swelling, tenderness, or warmth on the skin
  15. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  16. lightheadedness
  17. loss of appetite
  18. nausea
  19. rapid, shallow breathing
  20. redness of the skin
  21. stomach pain
  22. swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, hands, or feet
  23. swollen, red, or tender area of infection
  24. tightness in the chest
  25. trouble with swallowing

Rare

  1. Rectal bleeding
  2. severe diarrhea
  3. severe stomach pain

Incidence not known

  1. Back pain, sudden and severe
  2. being forgetful
  3. black, tarry stools
  4. bleeding gums
  5. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  6. blood in the urine or stools
  7. blue-yellow color
  8. blindness
  9. blurred vision or other change in vision
  10. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  11. change in size, shape, or color of existing mole
  12. dark urine
  13. decreased urine output
  14. difficulty controlling your bladder or bowels
  15. difficulty walking
  16. dilated neck veins
  17. extreme tiredness or weakness
  18. eye pain, redness, or tenderness
  19. feeling sad or depressed
  20. general feeling of discomfort, illness, or weakness
  21. high fever
  22. increased tearing
  23. irregular breathing
  24. irregular heartbeat
  25. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  26. light-colored stools
  27. mole that leaks fluid or bleeds
  28. muscle cramps or pain
  29. muscle weakness, sudden and progressing
  30. new mole
  31. painful blisters on the trunk of the body
  32. pale skin
  33. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  34. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  35. red, irritated eyes
  36. seizures
  37. sensitivity of the eye or skin to light
  38. severe eye pain
  39. slurred speech
  40. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  41. swollen glands
  42. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands in the neck, armpit, or groin
  43. troubled breathing with exertion
  44. unexplained bleeding or bruising
  45. upper right abdominal pain
  46. vomiting
  47. weight gain
  48. yellow eyes and skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of the skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
