Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare

  1. Blistering, burning, crusting, dryness, or flaking of the skin
  2. bloody urine
  3. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  4. increased blood pressure
  5. increased thirst
  6. itching, scaling, severe redness, soreness, or swelling of the skin
  7. loss of appetite
  8. lower back or side pain
  9. nausea
  10. swelling of the face, fingers, or lower legs
  11. trouble breathing
  12. unusual tiredness or weakness
  13. vomiting
  14. weight gain

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. burning or itching of the skin
  3. coma
  4. confusion
  5. decreased urine output
  6. deep bone pain in the hips or ribs
  7. depression
  8. difficulty in swallowing
  9. dizziness
  10. headache
  11. hostility
  12. irritability
  13. joint stiffness
  14. lethargy
  15. limited range of motion in the arms and legs
  16. muscle twitching or weakness
  17. red or dark patches on the skin of the arms or legs
  18. seizures
  19. skin swelling, hardening, or tightening
  20. stupor
  21. swelling of the face, throat, tongue, ankles, or hands

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Rare

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of the skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
  2. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  3. change in taste
  4. loss of taste
  5. rash with flat lesions or small raised lesions on the skin

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
