Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blood in the urine or stools
  4. chest pain
  5. chills
  6. confusion
  7. cough
  8. coughing up blood
  9. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  10. difficult or labored breathing
  11. difficulty in swallowing
  12. dizziness or fainting
  13. drowsiness
  14. dry mouth
  15. fainting
  16. fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat
  17. fever
  18. headache
  19. increased blood pressure
  20. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  21. increased thirst
  22. lightheadedness
  23. loss of appetite
  24. loss of consciousness
  25. lower back or side pain
  26. mood or mental changes
  27. muscle pain or cramps
  28. muscle spasms (tetany) or twitching seizures
  29. nausea
  30. nervousness
  31. nosebleeds
  32. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  33. painful or difficult urination
  34. pale skin
  35. paralysis
  36. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  37. pounding heartbeat
  38. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  39. rapid, shallow breathing
  40. red or black, tarry stools
  41. red or dark brown urine
  42. seizures
  43. sneezing
  44. sore throat
  45. stomach pain
  46. swelling of the face, hands, ankles, or lower legs
  47. tightness in the chest
  48. trembling
  49. troubled breathing with exertion
  50. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  51. unusual bleeding or bruising
  52. unusual tiredness or weakness
  53. vomiting
  54. weakness or heaviness of the legs
  55. weight gain

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Bone or muscle pain
  2. change in taste
  3. constipation
  4. cracked lips
  5. decreased appetite
  6. diarrhea
  7. loose tooth
  8. loss of taste
  9. skin rash
  10. thinning or loss of hair
  11. toothache
