Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Fainting
  2. lightheadedness
  3. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  4. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  5. unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness, or feeling of sluggishness

Incidence not known

  1. Bloating
  2. blurred vision
  3. bulging soft spot on the head of an infant
  4. change in the ability to see colors, especially blue or yellow
  5. confusion
  6. constipation
  7. decrease in the frequency of urination
  8. decrease in the urine volume
  9. diarrhea
  10. difficult or troubled breathing
  11. difficulty in passing urine (dribbling)
  12. dizziness
  13. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  14. drowsiness
  15. fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat
  16. headache
  17. hives or welts, itching, skin rash
  18. irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  19. loss of appetite
  20. loss of consciousness
  21. nervousness
  22. painful urination
  23. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  24. pounding in the ears
  25. seizures
  26. sore throat
  27. spasm of the throat
  28. stomach cramps or pain
  29. sweating
  30. tightness of the chest
  31. vomiting
  32. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Deep or fast breathing with dizziness
  2. disturbed color perception
  3. double vision
  4. dry mouth
  5. false or unusual sense of well-being
  6. fear or nervousness
  7. halos around lights
  8. nausea
  9. night blindness
  10. numbness of the feet, hands, and around the mouth
  11. overbright appearance of lights
  12. relaxed and calm feeling
  13. restlessness
  14. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  15. trouble sleeping
  16. tunnel vision

Incidence not known

  1. Belching
  2. bigger, dilated, or enlarged pupils (black part of the eye)
  3. bloating
  4. change in color vision
  5. chills
  6. cold sweats
  7. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  8. cool, pale skin
  9. darkened urine
  10. depression
  11. difficulty seeing at night
  12. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  13. fever
  14. flushing or redness of the skin
  15. full feeling
  16. hearing loss
  17. heartburn
  18. increased appetite
  19. increased hunger
  20. increased in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  21. increased interest in sexual intercourse
  22. increased sensitivity of the eyes to sunlight
  23. increased sweating
  24. indigestion
  25. nightmares
  26. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  27. pressure in the stomach
  28. sensation of spinning
  29. slurred speech
  30. stomach discomfort or upset
  31. sugar in the urine
  32. swelling of the abdominal or stomach area
  33. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
  34. unusually warm skin
  35. watering of the eyes
