Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Anxiety
  2. chest tightness
  3. confusion as to time, place, or person
  4. cough
  5. dry mouth
  6. irregular heartbeat
  7. irritability
  8. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  9. shaking
  10. trouble breathing
  11. trouble sleeping
  12. unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness

Less common

  1. Fainting
  2. fast or pounding heartbeat or pulse

Rare

  1. Blurred vision
  2. confusion
  3. dizziness, faintness. or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  4. headache
  5. pounding in the ears
  6. seizures
  7. sweating
  8. unusual tiredness or weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bloating
  3. bloody urine
  4. bluish lips or skin
  5. bulging soft spot on head of an infant
  6. change in ability to see colors, especially blue or yellow
  7. chest pain or discomfort
  8. chills
  9. constipation
  10. dark urine
  11. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  12. difficulty swallowing
  13. high fever
  14. hives, itching, skin rash
  15. increased thirst
  16. indigestion
  17. light-colored stools
  18. loss of appetite
  19. lower back or side pain
  20. muscle twitching or jerking
  21. nausea or vomiting
  22. nervousness
  23. no blood pressure or pulse
  24. noisy breathing
  25. not breathing
  26. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  27. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  28. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back vomiting
  29. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  30. problems with movement, walking, or speech
  31. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  32. rhythmic movement of the muscles
  33. rigid muscles
  34. slow to respond
  35. slurred speech
  36. stomach pain
  37. stopping of the heart
  38. swelling of the face, fingers, or lower legs
  39. trouble sleeping
  40. unconsciousness
  41. uncontrolled eye movements
  42. unpleasant breath odor
  43. unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination
  44. vomiting of blood
  45. weakness or heaviness of the legs
  46. weight gain
  47. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Mood changes
  2. nightmare

Rare

  1. Dry heaves

Incidence not known

  1. Feeling of warmth
  2. red, sore eyes
  3. redness of the face, neck, arms and occasionally, upper chest
  4. redness of the white part of the eyes or inside of the eyelids

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
