Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Aggression
  2. agitation
  3. blurred vision
  4. decrease in the amount of urine
  5. dizziness
  6. fast, slow, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  7. headache
  8. mental depression
  9. mood changes
  10. noisy, rattling breathing
  11. numbness or tingling in the arms or legs
  12. pounding in the ears
  13. swelling of the fingers, hands, feet, or lower legs
  14. trouble thinking, speaking, or walking
  15. troubled breathing at rest
  16. weight gain

Rare

  1. Chest tightness
  2. cough
  3. difficulty with swallowing
  4. hives, itching, skin rash
  5. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  6. trouble breathing
  7. unusual tiredness or weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Backache
  2. bloody, black, or tarry stools
  3. chills
  4. dark urine
  5. darkening of the skin
  6. decrease in height
  7. decreased vision
  8. diarrhea
  9. eye pain or tearing
  10. facial hair growth in females
  11. fainting
  12. fever
  13. flushed, dry skin
  14. fractures
  15. fruit-like breath odor
  16. full or round face, neck, or trunk
  17. general feeling of illness, tiredness, or weakness
  18. heartburn or indigestion (severe and continuous)
  19. hoarseness
  20. increased hunger
  21. increased thirst
  22. increased urination
  23. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  24. light-colored stools
  25. loss of appetite
  26. loss of sexual desire or ability
  27. lower back or side pain
  28. menstrual irregularities
  29. muscle pain, tenderness, wasting, or weakness
  30. nausea
  31. pain in the back, ribs, arms, or legs
  32. painful or difficult urination
  33. sore throat
  34. stomach cramping or burning (severe)
  35. stomach pain
  36. sweating
  37. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  38. slow healing
  39. trouble sleeping
  40. unexplained weight loss
  41. unusual tiredness or weakness
  42. upper right abdominal or stomach pain
  43. vision changes
  44. vomiting
  45. vomiting of material that looks like coffee grounds
  46. yellow eyes and skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Increased appetite

Incidence not known

  1. Abnormal fat deposits on the face, neck, and trunk
  2. acne
  3. dry scalp
  4. lightening of normal skin color
  5. pain, redness, or hard skin at the injection site
  6. pitting or depression of the skin at the injection site
  7. red face
  8. reddish purple lines on the arms, face, legs, trunk, or groin
  9. swelling of the stomach area
  10. thinning of the scalp hair
