Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Back pain
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. blood in the urine
  4. blurred vision
  5. bone pain
  6. chest pain or tightness
  7. chills
  8. confusion
  9. cough
  10. dizziness
  11. drowsiness
  12. dry mouth
  13. fast or irregular heartbeat
  14. feeling of warmth
  15. fever
  16. headache
  17. increased or decreased urination
  18. increased thirst
  19. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  20. loss of appetite
  21. loss of consciousness
  22. lower back, side, or stomach pain
  23. mood or mental changes
  24. muscle cramps in the hands, arms, feet, legs, or face
  25. muscle pain
  26. muscle spasms (tetany) or twitching seizures
  27. nausea
  28. nervousness
  29. numbness and tingling around the mouth, fingertips, or feet
  30. painful or difficult urination
  31. pale skin
  32. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  33. pounding in the ears
  34. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  35. seizures
  36. slow or fast heartbeat
  37. sore throat
  38. stomach cramps or pain
  39. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, lower legs, or ankles
  40. trembling
  41. tremor
  42. troubled breathing
  43. troubled breathing with exertion
  44. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  45. unusual bleeding or bruising
  46. unusual tiredness or weakness
  47. vomiting
  48. yellow eyes or skin

Less common

  1. Chest discomfort
  2. stomach bloating

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Constipation
  2. diarrhea
  3. dry eye

Less common

  1. Blindness
  2. bloody eye
  3. burning, dry, or itching eyes
  4. decreased vision
  5. discharge, excessive tearing
  6. discomfort, pain, or swelling of the eye or around the eye
  7. redness, pain, or swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
