Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Difficulty in moving
  2. joint pain or swelling
  3. muscle pain, cramps, spasms, or stiffness

Less common

  1. Arm, leg, or back pain
  2. bloating
  3. body aches or pain
  4. chills
  5. constipation
  6. cough
  7. darkened urine
  8. diarrhea
  9. ear congestion
  10. fast heartbeat
  11. fever
  12. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  13. headache
  14. hives, itching
  15. hoarseness
  16. indigestion
  17. irritation
  18. lack or loss of strength
  19. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  20. loss of appetite
  21. loss of voice
  22. nausea
  23. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  24. redness of the skin
  25. runny or stuffy nose
  26. shivering
  27. sneezing
  28. sore throat
  29. swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, hands, or feet
  30. tightness in the chest
  31. trouble breathing or swallowing
  32. trouble sleeping
  33. unusual tiredness or weakness
  34. vomiting
  35. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blistering, peeling, loosening of the skin
  4. blood in the urine or stools
  5. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, painful, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  6. clay-colored stools
  7. dizziness
  8. gaseous stomach pain
  9. indigestion
  10. light-colored stools
  11. muscle tenderness, wasting, or weakness
  12. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  13. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  14. red, irritated eyes
  15. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  16. stomach fullness
  17. unpleasant breath odor
  18. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  19. unusual bleeding or bruising
  20. vomiting of blood
  21. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones

Incidence not known

  1. Confusion
  2. forgetfulness
  3. memory loss
  4. nightmares
  5. problems with memory
  6. sleeplessness
  7. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
