Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Blood in the urine
  2. change in the frequency of urination or amount of urine
  3. difficulty with breathing
  4. drowsiness
  5. increased thirst
  6. loss of appetite
  7. nausea or vomiting
  8. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  9. weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach tenderness
  2. chills or fever
  3. cough
  4. difficulty with swallowing
  5. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness, especially when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  6. fast heartbeat
  7. hives or itching of the skin
  8. nausea or vomiting
  9. pain, redness, or soreness at the injection site
  10. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  11. rash or redness of the face, base of the neck, upper body, back, and arms
  12. severe abdominal or stomach cramps and pain
  13. tightness in the chest
  14. unusual tiredness or weakness
  15. watery and severe diarrhea, which may also be bloody

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Bad, unusual or unpleasant (after) taste
  2. change in taste
  3. diarrhea
  4. foamy urine

Less common

  1. Decreased appetite
  2. dry, red, hot, or irritated skin
  3. feeling unusually cold
  4. shivering

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
