Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. chills
  3. cough
  4. feeling of fullness
  5. fever
  6. lower back or side pain
  7. painful or difficult urination
  8. pale skin
  9. right upper abdominal pain and fullness
  10. sore throat
  11. stomach pain
  12. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  13. swollen lymph nodes
  14. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  15. unusual bleeding or bruising
  16. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Troubled breathing with exertion

Incidence not known

  1. Back or leg pain
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  4. bloating
  5. blood in the urine
  6. blurred vision or other change in vision
  7. bone pain
  8. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  9. clay-colored stools
  10. constipation
  11. dark urine
  12. decreased appetite
  13. decreased urine output
  14. diarrhea
  15. difficult or labored breathing
  16. difficulty in moving
  17. difficulty in swallowing
  18. dilated neck veins
  19. dizziness
  20. extreme fatigue
  21. fainting
  22. fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeat
  23. fast, shallow breathing
  24. general body swelling
  25. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  26. general tiredness and weakness
  27. headache
  28. high fever
  29. hives
  30. hoarseness
  31. increased need to urinate
  32. indigestion
  33. irregular breathing
  34. irritation or soreness of the mouth
  35. joint or muscle pain
  36. lack of coordination
  37. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  38. light-colored stools
  39. loss of appetite
  40. muscle pain, cramp, spasm, or stiffness
  41. muscular pain, tenderness, wasting, or weakness
  42. nausea
  43. nosebleeds
  44. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  45. passing urine more often
  46. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  47. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  48. red, irritated eyes
  49. redness, soreness, or itching skin
  50. runny nose
  51. seizures
  52. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  53. shivering
  54. skin rash
  55. sleepiness
  56. sores, welts, or blisters
  57. stabbing pain
  58. stomach discomfort
  59. sweating
  60. swollen joints
  61. swollen or painful glands
  62. tightness in the chest
  63. trouble sleeping
  64. unexplained bleeding or bruising
  65. unpleasant breath odor
  66. vomiting
  67. vomiting of blood
  68. weight gain
  69. yellowing of the eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Lack or loss of strength

Incidence not known

  1. Actions that are out of control
  2. belching
  3. bloated feeling
  4. change in taste or bad, unusual, or unpleasant (after) taste
  5. changes in skin color
  6. difficulty seeing at night
  7. discouragement
  8. dizziness or lightheadedness
  9. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  10. fear or nervousness
  11. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  12. feeling sad or empty
  13. hearing loss
  14. heartburn
  15. impaired vision
  16. increased sensitivity of the eyes to sunlight
  17. irritability
  18. itching skin
  19. loss of interest or pleasure
  20. mood or mental changes
  21. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  22. passing gas
  23. redness of the skin
  24. sensation of spinning
  25. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  26. sneezing
  27. stuffy nose
  28. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
  29. talking, feeling, and acting with excitement
  30. trouble concentrating
  31. weight loss
