Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. confusion
  3. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  4. sweating
  5. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Fainting
  2. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach cramps or pain
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  4. chest pain or discomfort
  5. dark urine
  6. diarrhea
  7. difficult or labored breathing
  8. fever or chills
  9. headache, severe and throbbing
  10. joint pain
  11. light-colored stools
  12. lower back or side pain
  13. mood or mental changes
  14. muscle aches, cramps, or stiffness
  15. pain in the arms or legs
  16. painful or difficult urination
  17. pale skin
  18. shortness of breath
  19. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or inside the mouth
  20. unusual behavior, such as disorientation to time or place, failure to recognize people, hyperactivity, or restlessness
  21. unusual bruising or bleeding
  22. unusual weight gain or loss
  23. yellow eyes and skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Constipation
  2. headache
  3. nausea or vomiting

Less common

  1. Burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  2. cough
  3. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  4. stuffy or runny nose

Incidence not known

  1. Change in urine color
  2. continuing ringing, buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  3. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  4. feeling of warmth
  5. inability to have or keep an erection
  6. pinpoint red or purple spots on the skin
  7. redness of the face, neck, arms and occasionally, upper chest
  8. sensation of spinning
  9. stomach soreness or discomfort
