Sami Alasfar, M.D., M.P.H.

Sami Alasfar, M.D., is a board-certified nephrologist with expertise in transplant nephrology. He is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic School of Medicine.

Dr. Alasfar joined the transplant group at Mayo Clinic Arizona in 2022. After completing residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, he completed Nephrology and Transplant Nephrology fellowships at Johns Hopkins University in 2016, where he stayed as faculty and director of the transplant nephrology fellowship.

Dr. Alasfar is involved in global humanitarian projects to improve care of kidney disease patients in armed conflict settings. In addition, he is passionate about studying cardiovascular disease and kidney transplantation, noninfectious complications of transplantation, and impact of COVID-19 on solid organ transplant.
