Nicholas P. McKenna, M.D., M.S., is a colon and rectal surgeon with a special interest in minimally invasive surgery and inflammatory bowel disease. He is an Instructor of Surgery at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. His approach to care is patient-centered, and he took two years out of his training in order to research the optimization of perioperative care of patients undergoing colon and rectal surgery.

Dr. McKenna earned his medical degree from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency and colon and rectal surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in Rochester, MN. Dr. McKenna also obtained a Masters Degree in Clinical and Translation Science from the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Dr. McKenna is widely published in the field of colon and rectal surgery, and he has given talks at a number of national meetings.
