Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Hives or welts
  2. itching
  3. itching of the vagina or genital area
  4. pain during sexual intercourse
  5. redness of the skin
  6. skin rash
  7. thick, white vaginal discharge with no odor or with a mild odor

Rare

  1. Bloody or cloudy urine
  2. fever
  3. greatly decreased frequency of urination or amount of urine
  4. seizures
  5. swelling of the feet or lower legs

Incidence not known

  1. Back, leg, or stomach pains
  2. black, hairy tongue
  3. black, tarry stools
  4. bleeding gums
  5. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  6. bloating
  7. blood in the stools
  8. bloody nose
  9. chest pain or tightness
  10. chills
  11. clay-colored stools
  12. cough or hoarseness
  13. cracks in the skin
  14. dark urine
  15. diarrhea
  16. diarrhea, watery and severe, which may also be bloody
  17. difficulty with breathing
  18. difficulty with moving
  19. difficulty with swallowing
  20. dizziness
  21. fast heartbeat
  22. fever with or without chills
  23. general body swelling
  24. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  25. headache
  26. heavier menstrual periods
  27. increased thirst
  28. joint or muscle pain
  29. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  30. light-colored stools
  31. loss of appetite
  32. loss of heat from the body
  33. lower back or side pain
  34. muscle stiffness
  35. nausea or vomiting
  36. pain
  37. pain, swelling, or redness in the joints
  38. painful or difficult urination
  39. pale skin
  40. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  41. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  42. rash
  43. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  44. red, irritated eyes
  45. red, swollen skin
  46. scaly skin
  47. sore throat
  48. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  49. stomach cramps or tenderness
  50. swollen glands
  51. trouble breathing
  52. unpleasant breath odor
  53. unusual bleeding or bruising
  54. unusual tiredness or weakness
  55. unusual weight loss
  56. upper right abdominal or stomach pain
  57. vomiting of blood
  58. white patches in the mouth or throat or on the tongue
  59. white patches with diaper rash
  60. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Cloudy urine
  2. diarrhea
  3. greatly decreased frequency of urination or amount of urine
  4. sleepiness
  5. stomach pain

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Rare

  1. Anxiety
  2. dry mouth
  3. hyperventilation
  4. irregular heartbeats
  5. irritability
  6. restlessness
  7. shaking
  8. sleeplessness
  9. tooth discoloration
  10. trouble sitting still
  11. trouble with sleeping

Incidence not known

  1. Burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  2. indigestion
  3. redness, swelling, or soreness of the tongue
  4. stomach upset
  5. swelling or inflammation of the mouth

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
