Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

1. Blurred vision
2. chest pain or discomfort
3. difficulty in speaking
4. dizziness or lightheadedness, especially when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
5. double vision
6. feeling, seeing, or hearing things that are not there
7. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
8. feeling that others are watching you or controlling your behavior
9. feeling that others can hear your thoughts
10. headache
11. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
12. inability to speak
13. lack or loss of strength
14. nausea
15. nervousness
16. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
17. pounding in the ears
18. sensation of spinning
19. severe mood or mental changes
20. shakiness and unsteady walk
21. slow or fast heartbeat
22. slow speech
23. sweating
24. trouble breathing
25. trouble sleeping
26. unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination
27. unusual behavior
28. vomiting

Less common—reported more often in patients with Parkinson's disease

1. Confusion
2. uncontrolled movements of the body, such as the face, tongue, arms, hands, head, and upper body

Rare—reported more often in patients taking large doses

1. Increased frequency of urination
2. loss of appetite, continuing
3. lower back pain
4. runny nose, continuing
5. stomach pain, continuing or severe
6. weakness

Rare

1. Black, tarry stools
2. bloody vomit
3. fainting
4. nausea
5. nervousness
6. seizures
7. sudden weakness
8. temporary blindness
9. unusual headache
10. vomiting, continuing or severe

Incidence not known

1. Agitation
2. anxiety
3. blue or pale skin
4. chest pain, possibly moving to the left arm, neck, or shoulder
5. chills
6. constipation
7. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
8. cough
9. diarrhea
10. difficulty in speaking
11. double vision
12. false beliefs that cannot be changed by facts
13. fever
14. headache
15. hearing loss
16. heartburn
17. high fever
18. high or low blood pressure
19. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
20. inability to speak
21. increased in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
22. increased interest in sexual intercourse
23. increased frequency of urination
24. indigestion
25. loss of bladder control
26. lower back pain
27. severe muscle stiffness
28. stuffy nose
29. unusual tiredness or weakness
30. unusually pale skin
31. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

1. Drowsiness
2. dry mouth
3. leg cramps at night
4. loss of appetite
5. mental depression
6. stomach pain
7. tingling or pain in the fingers and toes when exposed to cold temperatures

Incidence not known

1. Hair loss
