Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common or rare

  1. Abdominal pain
  2. agitation or combativeness
  3. anxiety
  4. back or rib pain
  5. blindness
  6. bloating
  7. bloody or black, sticky stools
  8. blurred vision
  9. burning in stomach
  10. changes in skin color
  11. chest pain or tightness
  12. chills
  13. confusion
  14. constipation
  15. convulsions
  16. cough
  17. coughing up blood
  18. darkened urine
  19. decrease in height
  20. decreased range of motion
  21. decreased urine output
  22. decreased vision
  23. depression
  24. difficulty swallowing
  25. dry mouth
  26. expressed fear of impending death
  27. eye pain
  28. eyeballs bulge out of eye sockets
  29. fainting or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position
  30. fast or slow heartbeat
  31. fever
  32. flushed dry skin
  33. fractures in arms or legs without any injury
  34. fractures in the neck or back
  35. fruit-like breath odor
  36. hallucinations
  37. headache
  38. heartburn
  39. hives
  40. increased fat deposits on face, neck, and trunk
  41. increased hunger
  42. increased thirst
  43. increased urination
  44. indigestion
  45. irregular breathing or shortness of breath
  46. irregular heartbeat
  47. joint pain
  48. lack or slowing of normal growth in children
  49. walking with a limp
  50. loss of appetite
  51. loss of consciousness
  52. muscle cramps or pain
  53. nausea or vomiting
  54. nervousness
  55. pain, tenderness, or swelling of foot or leg
  56. pains in stomach or side, possibly radiating to the back
  57. patients taking oral medicines or insulin for diabetes may need to increase the amount they take
  58. pounding in the ears
  59. problems with wound healing
  60. redness and itching of skin
  61. redness of eyes
  62. redness of face
  63. severe or continuing dizziness
  64. severe weakness of arms and legs
  65. skin rash
  66. sweating
  67. swelling of face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  68. swelling of nasal passages, face, or eyelids
  69. swollen neck veins
  70. tearing of eyes
  71. unexplained weight loss
  72. unusual tiredness or weakness
  73. vision changes
  74. weight gain
  75. wheezing
  76. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common or rare

  1. Acne, pimples
  2. bruising, large, flat, blue or purplish patches in the skin
  3. change in color of skin or nails
  4. increased sweating
  5. loss of muscle mass
  6. menstrual changes
  7. muscle weakness
  8. reddish purple lines on arms, face, legs, trunk, or groin
  9. sleeplessness, trouble sleeping, unable to sleep
  10. small, red, or purple spots on skin
  11. swelling of abdominal or stomach area, full or bloated feeling or pressure in the stomach
  12. thin, fragile skin
  13. unusual increase in hair growth

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
