Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Bone fracture
  2. breast pain
  3. chest pain
  4. chills, fever, or flu-like symptoms
  5. mental depression
  6. swelling of the feet or lower legs

Rare

  1. Continuing or severe nervousness
  2. cough
  3. dizziness or lightheadedness
  4. fainting
  5. fast heartbeat
  6. heart attack
  7. increased sweating
  8. nausea
  9. pain in the chest, groin, or legs, especially the calves
  10. severe and sudden, unexplained troubled breathing
  11. severe, sudden headache
  12. slurred speech
  13. sudden loss of coordination
  14. sudden, severe weakness or numbness in the arm or leg
  15. swollen glands
  16. vaginal bleeding
  17. vision changes

Incidence not known

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. blindness
  3. blurred vision
  4. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  5. chest discomfort
  6. dark urine
  7. decreased vision
  8. dilated neck veins
  9. extreme tiredness or weakness
  10. general tiredness or weakness
  11. increased need to urinate
  12. irregular breathing
  13. irregular heartbeat
  14. light-colored stools
  15. painful or difficult urination
  16. passing urine more often
  17. sore throat
  18. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  19. unusual bleeding or bruising
  20. unusual tiredness or weakness
  21. upper right abdominal pain
  22. weight gain
  23. white or brownish vaginal discharge
  24. yellow eyes and skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Back pain
  2. bone pain
  3. hot flashes (sudden sweating and feeling of warmth)
  4. joint pain
  5. muscle pain

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. confusion
  3. constipation
  4. diarrhea
  5. dry mouth
  6. headache
  7. increased thirst
  8. loss of appetite or weight loss
  9. metallic taste
  10. skin rash or itching
  11. sleepiness
  12. spinning or whirling sensation causing loss of balance
  13. stomach pain or upset
  14. trouble sleeping
  15. vomiting
  16. weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Bad, unusual, or unpleasant (after) taste and thirst
  2. being forgetful
  3. change in taste
  4. dryness of the skin
  5. hair loss
  6. hives or welts
  7. increased appetite
  8. irritability
  9. nervousness
  10. red, sore eyes
  11. redness of the skin
  12. swelling or inflammation of the mouth

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
