Barbaros Selnur Erdal, D.D.S., M.S., Ph.D., is an Electrical Computer Engineer. Dr. Erdal is a graduate of Ege University, Turkey, where he received his D.D.S. degree in Dentistry (1997). He received his undergraduate training in Computer and Information Science, as well as his M.S. degree in Bioinformatics (2005), at The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH. While working as a full-time senior systems consultant at the OSU Medical Center, he completed his second M.S. and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (2011) at The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH. Dr. Erdal currently serves as the Technical Director for The Center for Augmented Intelligence in Imaging, Department of Radiology, Mayo Clinic, FL.

His professional focus includes:

  • The use of data-mining and pattern-recognition techniques to support clinical operations, research, and educational needs.
  • Advanced image-data processing and texture analysis.
  • Application of machine- and deep- learning techniques to large-scale image datasets.
