Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Chest pain, discomfort, or burning
  2. difficulty with swallowing
  3. heartburn
  4. muscle or bone pain
  5. pain with swallowing
  6. vomiting blood

Rare

  1. Abdominal or stomach cramps
  2. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  3. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  4. chills
  5. confusion
  6. convulsions
  7. cough
  8. diarrhea
  9. difficulty with breathing
  10. fever
  11. irregular heartbeats
  12. itching
  13. joint pain
  14. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  15. mood or mental changes
  16. muscle cramps in the hands, arms, feet, legs, or face
  17. numbness and tingling around the mouth, fingertips, or feet
  18. rapid weight gain
  19. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  20. red, irritated eyes
  21. shortness of breath
  22. sore throat
  23. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  24. swelling of the neck
  25. tremor
  26. unusual tiredness or weakness
  27. unusual weight gain or loss
  28. vomiting

Incidence not known

  1. Burning upper abdominal or stomach pain
  2. difficulty with moving
  3. heavy jaw feeling
  4. loosening of a tooth
  5. loss of appetite
  6. muscle aching or cramping
  7. muscle pains or stiffness
  8. pain or burning in the throat
  9. pain, swelling, or numbness in the mouth or jaw
  10. severe bone, joint, or muscle pain
  11. stomach bloating, burning, cramping, or pain
  12. swollen joints
  13. weight loss

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. constipation
  4. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  5. full feeling
  6. headache
  7. indigestion
  8. passing gas
  9. pressure in the stomach
  10. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  11. swelling of the abdominal or stomach area

Rare

  1. Blurred vision or other change in vision
  2. decreased vision
  3. eye pain
  4. eye redness
  5. eye tenderness
  6. flushing or redness of the skin
  7. increased tearing
  8. rash
  9. redness of the eye
  10. sensitivity of the eye to light
  11. severe eye pain
  12. tearing
  13. unusually warm skin

Incidence not known

  1. Dizziness or lightheadedness
  2. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  3. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  4. hair loss
  5. hives or welts
  6. lack or loss of strength
  7. sensation of spinning
  8. thinning of the hair

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
